Long overdue update on DK

Thad and I are really enjoying our summer with Delaney. We have been able to do some really fun stuff like the zoo, Science Center, beach, Amaya Papaya, Popcorn Flicks, Splash Park, and more. We are looking forward to a few more weeks of fun till school starts in August.

So, as I type this, Delaney has now gone 2 days without wearing diapers or pull-ups. She is doing very well! We take her out and she does great going in public bathrooms. She has never had an accident while we have been gone! She wants to be a big girl so bad that she is refusing to wear pull-ups when she goes to sleep. This has been quite a battle. While I am glad that she is eager to wear undies, I am not too thrilled about the thought of washing sheets every day due to accidents. She can make it without wetting the bed during naps, but through the night is just a little too long. I think she woke herself up this morning when she went. When I felt that she had peed, she said, "Not a bad girl, mommy." That about broke my heart. I will be very glad when I can stop asking her if she has to go pee every 5 minutes. I hope she will be fully potty trained by the time school starts. Wish us luck!

This week we are also trying to wean her from her pacifier. I am trying a trick called Bye Bye Binky that a friend told me about. You cut the paci a little each day until they are sick of it and give it up on their own. We will see if it works! I will keep you posted!

Delaney loves to sing songs and scream for fun. She thinks it is really funny to see how loud she can be. She also loves experimenting with her tongue to see what sounds she can make. She loves doing ballet moves, like lifting her leg and spinning. She has also perfected the front roll, which is extremely cute to see.

Here are a few of the cute things Delaney says:

If you call her a pet name (like Babycakes), she will say, "I'm Delaney!" She use to call herself Laney, but now she can say her full name very clearly.

The other day I asked her to name her family. She said, "My Mommy, my Daddy, my Penny, Delaney, and Baby Beckett!" We had just babysat Beckett the night before so I guess she thought he was part of the family now!

"I'm big!"

"What's that?"

"Oh my gosh/goodness!"

"Myself!" (Little Miss Independent)

"I goed!" (She says this after she goes to the bathroom...we are working on "I went!"

"I got a boo-boo!"

"I did it!"

"That's amazing!"

"No bad ladies." (She is obsessed with bad ladies because of Disney movies.)

"Two minutes." (This is how tall Thad was when Delaney measured him.)

"I need to go pee-pee!" (This sentence is always followed by a rush to the potty!)

"Ariel's not sad." (DK wears Ariel undies and she doesn't want to make her sad by peeing on her.)

These quotes are just a tiny fraction of the things Delaney says. Her vocabulary is really large and is growing every day. She listens very closely to what we say and asks a lot of questions. Of course, each answer leads to a new question with her, but that always makes for a fun conversation.

Hope you have enjoyed my update. Pictures to come, I promise!
